    Brother TN-110/TN-115 Laser

Posted in: blog by Jack on 24 October 2008

We are now able to remanufacture the Brother TN-110 (low yield)/TN-115 (high yield) laser cartridges. These cartridges are for use in the Brother all-in-one DCP-9040CN, MFC-9440CN, MFC-9840CDW and the laser printer HL-4040CN and HL-4070CDW printers.

Following our standard policy, we are remanufaturing these cartridges only at the high yield level. We do this because our customers have indicated they would rather have the high yield cartridges which, at our prices, only cost as much as the low yield OEM cartridges. The high yield cartridges will print at least twice the number of pages as the low yield (5,000 compared to 2,500 for black, 4,000 compared to 1,500 for the color cartridges).

    Canon Faxphone B640 recall

Posted in: News by Jack on

The problem: Failure of an electrical component may present a risk of fire. This creates a potential risk of burn injury or property damage due to fire.

Resolution: Check the serial number printed on a silver sticker on the back of your B640 faxphone. If your serial number is between UKK52923 and UKK55442, UKK60513 and UKK99999 or YKK02001 and YKK20000, stop using this machine immediately and call Canon USA tool-free at 888-280-7858 (8am-midnight Eastern time Mon-Fri and noon-8pm Saturday) for a free replacement. There is no charge for picking up your recalled machine. Canon asks that you not return the unit to the retailer where you purchased it.

    Economic reality and refilled cartridges

Posted in: Recycling, Tips & Tricks, blog by Jack on 13 October 2008

The recent downturn in the economy here in the U.S. has caused most of us to revise and tighten our budgets. We have to reconsider what is necessary and what’s a luxury. Of course food, gas, and bills must still be paid or purchased. We still need a place to live, to eat, to drive. But do we need to print?

Perhaps we can avoid printing as much as we once did, but there are times the answer is “yes, I need to print this”.

One solution is to install the GreenPrint software mentioned here. This will help eliminate excess, worthless pages being printed which conserves both ink and paper.

Another potential money-saver would be to consider switching from an inkjet printer to a personal laser printer. Small footprint laser printers can be found for under $100 and a laser cartridge will provide 10 times the number of pages than an inkjet printer. Samsung, HP and Brother all manufacture small laser printers suitable for those of us who print only forms and other black-on-white forms. If you are printing pictures or colored images a laser printer most likely won’t fit your needs.

The most obvious solution to cutting your printing costs is to purchase your cartridges from Cartridge World. We refill and remanufacture our cartridges to the OEM specifications and test them prior to putting them out for sale. We guarantee everything we sell for the life of the cartridge. On average our inkjet cartridges will save you 30% to 50% off the price of OEM cartridges, while you will save between 30% to 40% off OEM prices for laser cartridges.

One final thought. By recycling your cartridges with Cartridge World you’re not only saving yourself money but you’re also helping keep your used cartridges from clogging up our landfill. Every day thousands of perfectly reusable cartridges are thrown away because people don’t realize there’s a viable alternative to spend big bucks on OEM cartridges. This is an ecological and financial waste.

    Better me than you

Posted in: blog by Jack on 4 October 2008

Refilling ink cartridges is rarely dangerous but frequently messy. The other day I had a magenta cartridge spew  about 5 ml. back at me. This was the result:

It also managed to spatter my shirt and pants, but they got nowhere near the degree of coverage my face did.

A good washing with Lava™ soap cleaned it off, and luckily for my eye our inks are non-toxic. But honestly, wouldn’t it be best to let us deal with all the potential mess involved with refilling ink cartridges?

(If it had been closer to Halloween I think I might have kept this “makeup” for Trick-or-Treating)
